What is the religious ruling on separating fused fingers and removing extra fingers from a child born with them?

If the fusion of two fingers or the presence of an extra finger does not cause harm or disfigurement that distresses the child, then surgical intervention is not permissible, as it entails an attempt to alter Allah Almighty's creation. However, if there is harm or distress, then there is no objection to performing the surgery.
