What should one do if they are reciting the Quran in a car or public place and are unable to prostrate for the Sajdah of recitation?

There is no harm in omitting prostration while completing the recitation if the the reciter is in a place where prostration is not possible, because the prostration of recitation (Sajdat al-Tilawah) is sunnah (recommended) and not Wajib (obligatory). Jurists have differed regarding a substitute for the prostration of recitation when it is not possible: some of them permitted remembrance (dhikr) as a substitute, while others held that there is no substitute due to the lack of evidence.
