Your pursuit of studies or work that benefits you is your right. Your father has no right to prevent you from it if it entails the betterment of your religion and your finances. You will not be disobedient (aqq) to him by leaving work with him and striving for what benefits you, as long as no harm befalls him. Your father's anger and his supplication against you without just cause will not harm you. You must be dutiful to your father, treat him kindly, and try to reach an understanding with him. If he is not pleased, then apologize to him gently and respectfully, without causing offense or abandonment. For, filial piety is one of the greatest causes of success, and the father is the middle gate of Paradise.
