Is a son considered disobedient to his father if he asks him to quit working at his restaurant due to its negative impact on his studies and acts of worship, especially since the father became angry at his request?

Filial piety is among the most emphasized obligations. Leaving work with your father, if it angers him, is impermissible, because obedience to the father is obligatory in matters that are customary and do not involve disobedience [to Allah]. However, if the work distracts you from obligatory acts of worship, then his obedience is not incumbent upon you. Similarly, if he asks you to present unlawful things like alcohol and pork, then it is forbidden to obey him in that, and this is not considered disobedience. As for work distracting from studies, some good and righteous people can intercede by speaking with your father to grant you suitable time for studying.
