Why was Dhul-Qarnayn given this name?

The exegetes mentioned various reasons for Dhul-Qarnayn being given this title: that he reached the horn of the sun from its rising and setting, or it was said: because he had two braids of hair, or he had two horns under his turban, and other interpretations for which there is no evidence. Thus, the matter remains unseen.
