The question

What is Islam's position on the abrogated verses, and does that mean the deletion of verses from the Qur’an? What is the wisdom behind abrogation if the Qur’an is complete? Does it indicate a change in Allah's opinion? And what is Islam's response to the Christian claim that Jesus met with the apostles after his death?

The answer

Abrogation (Naskh) is established in the Qur'an and Sunnah for reasons that include testing the servants and alleviating burdens for them. It has types: abrogation of recitation while the ruling remains, or abrogation of the ruling while the recitation remains, or abrogation of both the ruling and the recitation. Belief in abrogation is a requirement of belief in Allah Almighty's power and the perfection of His dominion, for He does what He wills. It is not a change in Allah's knowledge; rather, He, glory be to Him, knows until what time His command with the first ruling will last. Abrogation occurred during the revelation of the Qur'an, not after its completion, for it is preserved and no one can change it. And Jesus, peace be upon him, did not die but rather Allah raised him to Himself, and he will descend at the end of time.
