Do Muslims believe that Jesus was Jewish, as stated in the Gospels?

Jesus, peace be upon him, is one of the prophets of the Children of Israel and a messenger of Allah. The Gospel was revealed to him, confirming what preceded it from the Torah, but it abrogated some of its rulings and permitted some of what had been forbidden in it. His religion is the general Islam (monotheism and worship of Allah), like all prophets. As for his people to whom he was sent, they were the Children of Israel, who later became known as the Jews. Jesus, peace be upon him, was from the lineage of David, peace be upon him, and he spoke Hebrew.
