Does divorce take effect with the words "Go to your parents' house" if the wife repeatedly says a particular thing, and is it permissible to retract this suspension?

The phrase "Go to your father's house" is a metaphorical expression of divorce; it does not constitute a divorce unless it is intended as such. If you intended divorce by this phrase, then it is effective; otherwise, it is not. A conditional divorce, according to the majority of scholars, cannot be revoked. However, Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah held the view that it can be revoked if divorce was intended by it. It is not permissible to follow this opinion merely to seek concessions unless it is a fatwa given to you by someone whose knowledge and piety you trust.
