Does zakat become obligatory upon one who grows grapes and sells them as fruit, and does not make them into raisins?

Zakat (definition) is obligatory on grapes if the resulting raisins reach the nisab (definition), which is five awsuq (300 sa's). Half of a tenth is given if irrigated with effort, and a full tenth if irrigated without effort, such as by rain. Zakat is obligatory on all types of grapes, whether they are transformed into raisins or not. This is the opinion of the four Imams and is the ruling upon which legal verdicts are based. When giving Zakat, the owner of the garden has the choice to give it as raisins, grapes, or money.
