Establishing charitable societies that are Islamically compliant is important and carries great reward, for they care for the poor, the needy, orphans, and widows, propagate Islam through books and audio recordings, organize Quran memorization circles, and undertake projects such as building mosques, schools, and hospitals, paving roads, and digging wells. If the government obligates these societies to certain forbidden matters, such as depositing funds in interest-based banks, and it is not possible to avoid this, then there is no harm in complying, because their benefits outweigh this harm, and the harms of their cessation are greater.
