Is an Udhiyah obligatory upon a widow?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The majority of scholars hold that the Udhiyah (sacrifice) is a confirmed Sunnah, and it only becomes obligatory through a vow or designation, such as when someone buys a sheep or intends it for Udhiyah, or when a deceased person has bequeathed it. As for the woman being a widow, there is no connection between that and the obligation of Udhiyah. The Udhiyah is recommended whenever one has the means.
