What is the explanation of the Hadith: "Whoever revives my Sunnah at the time of the corruption of my Ummah will have the reward of a martyr"?
The with the wording, "Whoever adheres to my during the corruption of my Ummah will have the reward of one hundred martyrs," has not been found. Rather, it has been narrated with the wording, "Whoever adheres to my Sunnah during the corruption of my Ummah will have the reward of a martyr," or "he will have the reward of a martyr." This hadith is weak. Al-Manawi explained the hadith to mean that adhering to the Sunnah during the corruption of the Ummah signifies steadfastness upon it despite the absence of support and even exposure to harm, which makes the one who adheres to it attain the reward of a martyr. In a narration by Al-Bayhaqi, it states, "one hundred martyrs."
