How can one reconcile striving to earn a livelihood with fearing the trials of this worldly life and the restrictions that might affect religious commitment? Is it acceptable to enroll in a course for training imams with the aim of securing housing and a salary, while intending to disregard any doctrinal ambiguities that might be taught therein?

One should strive to seek provision to achieve independence from people and to support one's mother. This is a great act of worship and takes precedence over seeking knowledge that is not an individual obligation (fard al-ayn). Reliance on Allah is contradicted by the abandonment of striving to seek provision. As for joining a course that teaches a conflicting belief, there is no harm if one possesses knowledge that protects them from being influenced. It may even be beneficial for distinguishing between truth and falsehood. As for leading prayers (Imamah), there is no harm in receiving provision from the public treasury, but the primary intention must be for the sake of Allah, not worldly greed. The measure is by intentions.
