What is the ruling on continuing a marital relationship with a wife who committed adultery and bore a child out of wedlock, then confessed to her husband and repented, and the husband wishes to conceal her sin, knowing that ten years have passed and they have four children together?

The wife's confession to the crime of adultery does not sever the marital relationship. The child born within the marital bed remains the son of the husband, based on the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "The child is for the bed, and for the adulterer is the stone." The husband cannot disown the child's lineage except through li'an (oath of condemnation), which requires immediate knowledge of the birth or a legitimate excuse assessed by the judge. If the wife repents sincerely, it is better for the husband to keep her and conceal her sin, while ensuring he does not stay away from the home for prolonged periods.
