ما هو سبب نزول الآية الكريمة: "وإن طائفتان من المؤمنين اقتتلوا فأصلحوا بينهما"؟

The noble verse mentioned has several reasons for its revelation. Among them is what Al-Qurtubi narrated from Anas ibn Malik: that the Prophet (peace be upon him) went to Abdullah ibn Ubayy on a donkey, and the latter objected to the donkey's stench. A fight then broke out between his companions and the Prophet's companions, involving hands, shoes, and palm branches. A single verse can have more than one reason for its revelation. The verse is definitive and general, obligating the Muslim community and their leader to reconcile when a dispute or fighting occurs between two groups of Muslims, and to compel the rebellious group to abide by Allah's judgment. Allah has encouraged reconciliation among people by His saying: "No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for whoever enjoins charity or what is just or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah - We will give him a great reward." (An-Nisa: 114). The lesson is derived from the generality of the wording, not the specificity of the cause.
