Is the marital cohabitation lawful after three divorces: the first before consummation due to a problem and an escape, the second in self-defense to repel the wife after she bit him, and the third due to an insult from the wife, knowing that he did not intend divorce in any of them, and is it obligatory to return to the wife after a sheikh's fatwa to slaughter something for the poor based on the wife's statement that there was no intention of divorce?

Allah named marriage a solemn covenant. If the husband utters a clear divorce pronouncement, his divorce takes effect, and his claim of love for his wife or lack of intention to divorce does not benefit him. Thus, it is clear that divorce has occurred in the first and second cases. As for the third case, if the husband pronounced divorce while angry but was aware of what he was saying, the third divorce takes effect, and his wife becomes irrevocably divorced from him (a major divorce). She is not lawful for him until she marries another husband and he consummates the marriage with her, and then he divorces her or dies. However, if he pronounced divorce while unaware of what he was saying, the divorce does not take effect. What was reported from the mentioned Sheikh, that the husband should slaughter something and distribute it to the poor, has no basis. It is advisable to consult the court or a scholar for clarification.
