Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or statues, and three-dimensional images of animate beings, other than children's toys, are forbidden to photograph and possess. This is because having them in homes and places deprives their owners of the angels of mercy entering upon them and seeking forgiveness for them, and because possessing and buying them encourages their depiction and creation, and aids in this evil. A Muslim must remove these images and sculptures from his home, and he may adorn it with whatever images and sculptures he wishes, provided they are not of animate beings.
