What is the validity of the statement that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, married Lady Safiyyah for her beauty, and that Lady Aisha feared that the Prophet would marry a beautiful woman he saw? And what are the texts of the hadiths that support this, if any?

The fundamental principle is that a man marries a woman for her faith, beauty, and character. This is what occurred in the marriage of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to Safiyyah, may Allah be pleased with her, as her beauty was mentioned to him, and he chose her for himself. There is no aspersion on the prophethood in this, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, loves good and beautiful things. As for the jealousy of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, it is natural among women, especially when the husband holds the status of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. She herself openly stated this, saying, "And why should someone like me not be jealous of someone like you?"
