The answer

Money spent before the completion of a [Hijri] year is not subject to Zakat, unless the money was intended for trade. A truck that one wishes to sell is not subject to Zakat, according to the majority of scholars, unless one sells it and a [Hijri] year passes on its price. Some scholars are of the opinion that merely the intention of trade is sufficient to make it subject to Zakat.
