Did the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbid the killing of civilians, including men, women, children, and the elderly? If so, then how did he order the killing of those who had reached puberty among Banu Qurayza, despite Allah's saying: "And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another"? And how did he order the killing of Durayd ibn al-Simmah, even though it was not proven that he held any significant influence among his people?

The Ahadith prohibit the killing of women, children, frail old men, and hired laborers, unless they fight or support the fighters with their opinions or in other ways.

Durayd ibn al-Simmah was killed because he had an influential opinion in warfare despite his old age. A woman can be killed if she is a combatant or has a role in planning warfare.

As for Banu Qurayzah, after they broke their covenant and allied with the Confederates (Ahzab), Sa'd ibn Mu'adh ruled concerning them that their combatants should be killed, their offspring and women taken captive, and their wealth divided.
