The answer

Fasting is one of the pillars of Islam and an obligation upon every Muslim. One must repent from neglecting it and then maintain it, in addition to making up for any missed fasts. Consecutive making up is not a requirement. It is obligatory to feed one poor person a mudd of food (750 grams) for each day that was not fasted. Regarding the dinars you paid for the missed month, if their value equals or exceeds a mudd of food, then they are sufficient; otherwise, you must pay 30 mudds for the days of that month.
