How does God deal with sinners and transgressors: Does He detest them or does He love them and desire their repentance? And is His love for people conditional upon their deeds or not?

The answer to the question becomes clear by establishing three points:

1. Allah Almighty is a Just Judge: He loves the pious and the doers of good, and He does not love the wrongdoers and the transgressors. Believers are beloved by virtue of their faith, and the degrees of love or hatred for them may vary according to their deeds. The disobedient believer has the root of love, and Allah treats him with mercy; either he repents, and Allah loves him, or He afflicts him with calamities to expiate his sins. 2. Allah Almighty’s Will is of Two Types: Universal, Predetermined Will (Irada Kawniyya Qadariyya): This will inevitably occur, and it pertains to what Allah loves and what He dislikes. Legislative, Religious Will (Irada Shar'iyya Diniyya): This pertains only to what Allah loves, and it may or may not occur depending on the choices of the servants. 3. Allah’s Love and Hatred: These are two active attributes related to His will. He loves the servant if he believes and performs righteous deeds, and He hates him if he disbelieves or disobeys. The attributes of Allah Almighty do not resemble the attributes of creation, and we affirm Allah’s love for Him without likening or negating.
