What is the ruling on frequent passing of wind to the point of not being able to complete ablution or prayer, and what should be done when feeling the wind exiting during prayer with the possibility of it recurring?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
If you perform ablution (wudu) and feel like wind is exiting, it is permissible for you to restrain it, and your prayer is valid if you are not certain that the wind has actually exited during the prayer. However, if the emission of wind is continuous, such that it does not stop for a period sufficient for ablution and prayer, or it stops for a period sufficient for ablution and prayer, but its emission is irregular, then it is subject to the ruling of sals, so one performs ablution after the time for prayer has begun and prays, and whatever exits does not harm him/her.
