Is it permissible to masturbate to extinguish the fire of desire when the doctor asks the husband not to have intercourse with his pregnant wife to protect the fetus?

It is not permissible to masturbate with the hand. However, it is permissible for a man to enjoy his wife during menstruation or post-childbirth bleeding (nifas) without penetration, based on the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "Do everything except intercourse," and in another narration: "except sexual intercourse."
