Who is the last to die on Earth?

The last one to die will be the Angel of Death. Al-Suyuti mentions in "Al-Durr Al-Manthur" a hadith stating that Allah Almighty exempts Jibreel (Gabriel), Mika'il (Michael), and the Angel of Death from the first swoon. Then, He commands the Angel of Death to seize the soul of Mika'il, then Jibreel, making the Angel of Death the last to die.

It was also reported by Ibn Al-Mundhir from Jabir that Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, is exempted because he had swooned previously. And from Ikrimah, that those exempted are the bearers of the Throne.

Ibn Kathir affirms that this blast is the blast of swooning by which all living beings will die, except those whom Allah wills. Then, He seizes the souls of the remaining ones until the Angel of Death is the last to die. Allah, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence, remains alone. Then He calls out: "Whose is the dominion today?" and answers Himself: "It is Allah's, the One, the Irresistible."
