What is the ruling on building mosques with the intention of obtaining employment when they are incorporated into the Awqaf (Endowments), and does the same ruling apply to building mosques in areas already full of mosques, which leads to a decrease in the number of worshippers?
Whoever builds a mosque with the intention of sincerely worshipping Allah will receive immense reward and recompense, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever builds a mosque seeking thereby the Face of Allah, Allah will build for him a similar house in Paradise." As for whoever builds it with an intention other than this, there is no reward for him, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, actions are by intentions." Furthermore, building a mosque in a place where it is not needed may not be permissible and may not result in reward.
