What is the ruling on those who treat sorcery with the Qur'an, while using incense and reciting the Qur'an over water, and who disclose unseen matters that occurred in the past, with the suspicion that they are using a qareen (jinn companion)?

It is permissible to treat magic with the Quran and by reciting it over water for the afflicted person to drink. However, the use of incense in treatment has no basis in Islamic law and is a superstition. The charlatan may be able to know some things through the subjugation of jinn and by questioning the human's companion jinn (qareen). The recitation of the Quran by some who practice these matters doesnot indicate their righteousness or truthfulness, but rather it is to deceive people.
