The expiation for an oath is fulfilled by feeding ten needy people lunch or dinner. It is permissible to gather them together or to give each one a separate meal. It is also permissible to pay the value of the food in cash if that is more beneficial for the needy. The value is estimated at one and a half kilograms of the average food consumed by the person performing the expiation. One must be cautious with expiations and atone for anything doubted, so that one's conscience may be cleared.
