It is also permissible to photograph them in the act of committing a crime for the purpose of, for example, reporting them to the ruler or establishing proof against them, while being careful not to publish the image to the general public if there is no strong overriding benefit, such as spreading indecency. In any case, each incident is considered in terms of its benefits and harms, and a general ruling cannot be applied to all situations. Advising a Muslim who seeks counsel regarding a marriage proposal or similar matters, and warning them against a corrupt suitor, is obligatory.
