Which is better: to proceed with a formal engagement despite professional instability and the likelihood of a lengthy engagement period, or to postpone it?

Initiating marriage is desirable in Islamic law to protect one's chastity and lower one's gaze, based on the Prophet's saying: "O young people, whoever among you can afford to marry, let him do so, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding one's chastity." Therefore, it is recommended to hasten to marry, especially if the girl is religious and of good character. Lack of job stability should not be an impediment, as marriage is a means to wealth, affirming Allah's saying: {And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty.}
