What is the second type of crow that is permissible to earn and consume?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The crow is of two types: one whose acquisition and consumption are permissible, and another whose acquisition and consumption are forbidden, and it is recommended to kill it both inside and outside the Haram (sacred precinct). The forbidden type is that whose killing within the Haram was commanded, as stated in the Hadith narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are five harmful animals that should be killed in the Haram: the crow, the kite, the scorpion, the mouse, and the rabid dog." This refers to the crow that eats carrion. As for the agricultural crow that picks up grains, it is permissible because it is not inherently considered vile.
