Is it permissible to illuminate graves to protect them from vandalism and intruders?

The Shari'ah has prohibited the placing of lamps on graves, because it involves squandering wealth and excessive glorification of graves, and a curse has been reported upon those who do so. However, if there is a legitimate Shari'ah benefit in illuminating graves, such as protecting them from desecration, and the lighting outside the cemetery is insufficient, then it is hoped that there is no harm in that.
