What is the reason for a worshiper feeling distressed and not experiencing her prayer, despite her religious state being average or weak, and how can she and others experience prayer and find guidance? And what is the remedy for that?
The feeling of distress after prayer is a deception from Satan. A Muslim should strive against their self, maintain their acts of worship, and endeavor to attain khushu' (devotional humility); for through it, hardship dissipates, and the sweetness of worship is attained. As for not feeling that one has prayed, this is due to the heart's absence, and its remedy lies in adopting means that aid in khushu'. As for guidance, it is attained by supplicating to Allah, accompanying the righteous, striving (against the self), contemplating Allah's names and attributes, and reflecting on death and standing before Allah.
