Allah does not disappoint the efforts of one who is sincere and truly seeks Him. "And those who strive for Us – We will surely guide them to Our ways." What has afflicted you is a plot from Satan. You erred by abandoning the good deeds you used to perform, for pleasure only comes after effort and perseverance. You must resume doing good deeds, seek refuge with Allah from Satan, ponder the Qur'an, and reflect on Allah's Names and Attributes, and on this world and the hereafter, as this softens the heart. Increase your reading of books on admonition and tenderizing the heart, and listen to beneficial lectures. Be diligent in observing the causes of khushu' in prayer, and supplicate frequently, for it is the greatest weapon of the believer. Associate with righteous and good people.
