What is the ruling on hesitation in prayer due to forgetfulness or obsessive doubts, what is the ruling on incorrect movement during it, and does prayer become invalid by hesitating to break the intention?

Scholars have differed concerning whether hesitation in discontinuing prayer invalidates it or not. Some have held that it invalidates it, due to the absence of a firm intention. Others have held that it does not invalidate it, because the default state of the prayer is validity. This second opinion is the one preferred by Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, as long as the worshiper has not resolved to discontinue the prayer; he remains upon his intention, and his prayer is not invalidated by hesitation.
