Can a Christian be helped?

It is Islamically permissible to show kindness and benevolence to non-combatant disbelievers, based on the Almighty's saying: ﴿Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.﴾ Al-Bukhari titled a chapter for this verse "Giving Gifts to Polytheists," citing the hadith of Asma bint Abu Bakr, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded her to maintain ties with her polytheist mother. Whoever helps them should intend to attract them to Islam; for in this there is righteousness and lawful benefits, such as winning hearts over.
