What is the meaning of: Did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, marry Maymunah while he was in a state of ihram or not?

Scholars have interpreted the hadith of the Prophet's marriage to Maymunah in two ways: either he married her while he was within the sacred precinct (Mecca), or he married her while he was in a state of ihram for Hajj. However, the narrations from Maymunah and Abu Rafi' confirm that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, married her while he was in a state of hill (not in ihram). The people of knowledge have preferred their statement because they had more direct knowledge of the event. Thus, the correct view is that the Prophet married Maymunah while he was in a state of hill, not in ihram for Hajj.
