However, Ibn Abbas and the Hanafis maintained its validity, adducing that the Prophet (peace be upon him) married Maymunah while he was in a state of ihram.

The majority of scholars refuted the narration of Ibn Abbas, clarifying that the correct account is that the Prophet (peace be upon him) married Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) while he was in a state of hill (not ihram), based on the narrations of Maymunah and Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with them both). They emphasized that Ibn Abbas erred in his narration because he was young at the time and was not present at the actual event himself.
