Does a divorce pronounced with the words "you are divorced by three" take effect, given that it was intended as a punishment and lesson, uttered under extreme anger, and knowing that the wife was in her postpartum period (nifas)? Fourth: Divorce pronounced during nifas (postpartum bleeding) is valid, and the one who pronounces it is sinful.

Fifth: The maximum period for nifas is forty days. If the bleeding stops before then, she should perform ghusl (ritual bath) and pray.

Sixth: The ultimate reference for matters of marriage and divorce is the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him.
