Will the repentance of one who raises his voice against his mother—who causes problems and mistreats him—be accepted, even though he knows he is obligated to honor her?

A mother holds a great status and an emphasized right. It is not permissible to mistreat her by raising one's voice or speaking harshly. One must repent to Allah for raising one's voice at one's mother, and address her with respect, gentleness, and humility, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "So do not say to them, 'uff,' and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small.'" Repentance involves abandoning the sin, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it. It is accepted, by Allah's permission, even if it is repeated. One should strive against oneself and seek Allah's help to control oneself and improve one's conduct, especially with one's mother, as good manners are acquired through habituation and practice.
