Am I obligated to forgive my brother who wronged me, despite his lack of repentance and continued sin, especially given my family's pressure to forgive him?
The most painful thing for the soul is when evil comes from someone whose side is considered safe. It is not hidden from any intelligent person that a brother is required to protect his sister, and it is obligatory for you to be wary of your brother.
We advise your family with the following: 1. Clarifying the heinousness of his crime, and that he is supposed to be a protector of his honor, not a violator of it. 2. Your family—especially your father—bears a great responsibility regarding your brother's abandonment of prayer. 3. Being keen on marrying him off and expediting it as much as possible. 4. Choosing righteous company for him, to guide him to good and assist him in it. 5. Encouraging him to observe frequent fasting, and keeping him away from everything that incites lust.
As for you, we advise you with the following: 1. Make sure not to be alone with him in one place, unless he repents sincerely. 2. Do not be negligent in your attire in front of him, and strongly repel him if he looks at you with suspicion. 3. Strive to get married; to hasten your departure from the house he is in. 4. Increase in supplication and seeking refuge with Allah to avert all evil from you. 5. The matter is not about an apology, so do not accept this from him, even if it is your parents' request; rather, what is obligatory for him is repentance.
