How can one get rid of the addiction to masturbation while adhering to prayers and reading the Quran, and being careful not to fall into fornication?

Masturbation is forbidden and leads to many harms. One of the greatest aids in staying away from it is to remember the light of the Quran in the heart, lest it be extinguished by the darkness of sin. The prohibition of a forbidden act is affirmed by taking an oath or making a covenant with Allah to abandon it. A single expiation is required for all oaths if you swear concerning one thing, unless a breach of oath occurs after expiation, in which case another expiation becomes due. A covenant with Allah has the ruling of an oath.
