What is the ruling on describing people with terms such as "angel" or "devil," or addressing the devil and his whisperings?

It is not permissible to liken a Muslim to Satan, due to the exaggeration of vilification involved and the resemblance to the most disbelieving and hostile of infidels. It is permissible for a person to address his companion from among the jinn (devils) seeking refuge in Allah from him. As for whisperings (waswas), there is no harm in addressing them. However, it is preferable to ignore them, divert one's mind from them, occupy one's time with what is beneficial, and associate with good people.
