What is the ruling on saying: "I seek refuge in Allah from the word 'I'" and "So-and-so shall not settle in Allah's sustenance"?

There is no harm in saying: "I seek refuge in Allah from the word 'I'," if the intention is to seek refuge from the evil of this word, which may lead to conceit or attributing to oneself what one did not do. A Muslim must accustom his heart to abandon conceit and boasting, and not attribute to himself what is not his. As for "I do not settle so-and-so in Allah's livelihood," its meaning is unclear.
