Is it permissible to watch the film "The Passion of the Christ" for the sake of understanding the other?

A Muslim is not permitted to watch the film "The Passion of the Christ" because it presents the belief of Jews and Christians that Christ was killed and crucified. This contradicts the text of the Holy Quran in Surat An-Nisa: ﴿And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [the semblance of Jesus] was made to appear to them [as such].﴾ Rather, it is incumbent upon a Muslim to clarify the true belief.
