What is the ruling on one who watches films or TV series that include religious transgressions such as "appealing to Christ for help" or fallacies that contradict the religion, and does he become a disbeliever by watching them?
It is not permissible for a Muslim to follow or purchase films that contain violations of Islamic law, based on the Almighty's saying: "And when you see those who engage in [blasphemous] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they engage in another discourse," and His saying: "And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah disbelieved in and ridiculed, then do not sit with them until they engage in another discourse. Indeed, in that case, you would be like them." Nevertheless, the viewer does not become an infidel merely by watching films that contain polytheism, unless his heart is opened to it. The resemblance mentioned in the verse refers to participating in the sin, not in disbelief.
