Prayer in prayer areas (musallas) and mosques is equal in terms of reward. The reward for prayer is enhanced by an increase in the number of the congregation. A mosque is a place whose land has been dedicated as a mosque. As for prayer areas whose land has not been dedicated, they do not take the ruling of a mosque. It is permissible for a person in a state of ritual impurity (junub) or a menstruating woman to stay in a prayer area because it is not considered a mosque.
