What is the ruling on eating and praying in the home of a bribetaker, and taking a loan from him?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
It is permissible to borrow for one who intends to repay, as evidenced by the Prophet's (peace be upon him) borrowing and Allah's Almighty saying: "O you who have believed, when you contract a debt for a specified term, write it down." It is stipulated that the loan must be free of interest or any stipulated benefit. Eating in the borrower's house is permissible if the method of borrowing is legitimate. Otherwise, one should consider whether all of his money is unlawful or if lawful and unlawful money are mixed. As for praying in a house built with unlawful money, it is valid according to the majority of scholars, contrary to the Hanbalis.
