Is acting upon the fatwa of Ibn Taymiyyah and those who followed him regarding the non-occurrence of triple divorce with a single pronouncement—because it is the easier opinion—rendering the rejoining of the wife void? Is this fatwa preponderant, or does it admit of both error and correctness? And is being cautious with regard to divorce considered piety?

It is permissible to adopt the view of Ibn Taymiyyah regarding the triple divorce. As for the person afflicted with obsessive doubts (waswas), it is permissible for him to adopt the easier of the opinions if it benefits him. Caution is good, unless it leads to contradicting the Sunnah. In the case of the person afflicted with waswas, it is blameworthy. One must turn away from these obsessive doubts and seek Allah's help.
