Does divorce take effect if I give my mother money after a week or a month, after I swore by divorce that I would not give her more than the amount I had already given her?

According to our fatwa regarding swearing by divorce, divorce occurs upon breaking the oath. Your breaking of the oath depends on your intention behind what you uttered. If you intended not to give your mother any additional money whatsoever, then you will break the oath if you give it to her, even after some time. However, if you intended not to give it to her immediately, then you will not break the oath if you give it to her later.

If you did not have a specific intention at the time of swearing, then reference is made to the reason for the oath and what provoked it. If there is no known reason, then you will break the oath by giving your mother any additional money whatsoever, because the apparent meaning of your words implies that.
